What do I need to know if I request an in-person session?

I provide home and site visits for clients living in the city of Winnipeg. If your preference is for me to come to you, you will just need to ensure that we have a private space to work in and access to a sink to wash brushes. I will bring all the art supplies needed for the session and can provide a table and folding chairs if requested.

How

What can I expect during a free consultation?

A consultation session is usually a quick phone or video call, based on your preference, in order to get to know one another and assess your needs. We can discuss what brings you to art therapy as well as what format and location may work best for you. If you are booking on behalf of someone else please let me know when you reach out.

What can I expect during the first full session?

Our first session will be spent getting to know one another and getting acquainted with some of the art materials we can use together. A comfortable connection and atmosphere is very important to the therapeutic process. Once this is established, we will move at a gentle pace as we dive into what brought you to therapy and artistic projects that are meaningful to you.

How long do most people engage in therapy?

Each client and situation is unique and the length of time you choose to engage in therapy is entirely up to you. Initially it is ideal to meet more frequently in order to work with the momentum of the first session. This could be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on your finances or schedule. Over time, we will get a clearer picture of what your needs are, and how I can best support you.

What are your Covid protocols?

In an effort to keep myself and my clients safe and healthy, I follow current community health guidelines regarding masking and sanitize all of my supplies between sessions. If you are not feeling well or display any COVID-19 symptoms, please contact me to reschedule your appointment.

Do I need to have artistic ability in order to participate in art therapy or guided workshops?

Not at all! You will learn how to use art materials at your own pace and in the service of expressing yourself.

What do I need to know if I request a virtual session?

If your preference is a virtual session, you will need to ensure that you have reliable internet access, a private space to work in, good lighting, a table and comfortable chair to create. You will either provide your own art supplies based on a list I will provide or a starter art supply kit will be delivered or mailed to you prior to the first session for $60 + GST. Please note that there may be additional art materials required as we progress, based on your preferences.

The person I am booking sessions for would like to work virtually but is unable to use a computer. Can they still participate virtually?

I have had many successful sessions working with clients with the help of support people during sessions. If the person you are booking for is able to have someone set up and end the video call, as well as provide support with art materials when needed throughout the session, we can work virtually together. If you are uncertain as to whether virtual or in person is best, we can discuss this during a free consultation.

Where

Where are sessions held?

I strive to make my services as accessible as possible for my clients. With this in mind, I am currently offering virtual sessions, home, and site visits. This includes long term care homes, retirement residences, and healthcare facilities.

If you are an organization, business, or community group who would like to run in-person group art sessions or workshops but do not have a physical space, let me know and I can suggest some options.

I don’t live in Manitoba. Can we still work together?

Yes! At this time, I am offering virtual and in-person services to individuals in Manitoba and virtually Canada-wide. I do not service any other country at this time.

When

Are you currently accepting new clients?

I will be booking new clients starting August 2023. The earlier you reach out, the more availability I will have to schedule you in.

Can I book recurring appointments with you?

Absolutely. This means you have a regular time-slot on the same day weekly, biweekly, or monthly; making our time together a part of your routine. If you have days and times you’re interested in, I will do my best to accommodate.

Who

Do you offer support for clients outside of older adults and carepartners?

My private practice is rooted in mental health for older adults and those supporting them. I offer support to individuals who may be experiencing life transitions, loneliness, isolation, depression, anxiety, grief, and those who are living with neuro-cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The best way to know if we would work well together is by reaching out, sharing a little bit of your story, current concerns, and going from there. If I do not believe that I would be the right practitioner for you, I would be happy to recommend therapists who may better suit your needs.

Rates

In-Person

My base rate for in-person, individual art therapy starts at $170 + GST for a 60 minute session. This rate includes my travel time (within Winnipeg city limits), art supplies, and is adjusted based on each client's unique needs.

How much are your services?

Virtual

My base rate for virtual, individual art therapy starts at $150 + GST for a 60 minute session. Virtual art therapy clients can choose to purchase their own art supplies based on a suggested list I provide, or for $60 + GST I can mail or deliver a starter kit to you. Please note that there may be additional art materials required as we progress, based on your preferences.

Group

Rates for group art therapy and guided workshops are determined on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on the number of individuals in the group, the location of sessions, and what type of art materials are required.

If your finances are tight but you are interested in working with me, please reach out and I will do my best to accommodate you.

How do I pay for my session?

I currently accept credit cards. You will be prompted for a credit card number when you fill out your initial intake and consent form through Jane App. Your credit card will be kept on file and charged at the end of each session. I do not direct bill to insurance companies.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Many of my clients are self-pay clients. Some insurance companies will reimburse you for my individual and group art therapy services since I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. If you are booking individual or group art therapy sessions, please make sure to check with your provider in advance to see if psychotherapy mental health services are covered in your plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

In the event of a no show or no cancellation less than 24 hours a full session fee will be charged to your credit card on file. Having sufficient notice of a cancellation is very much appreciated and provides me with the opportunity to offer the time slot to other clients.
